In 1995 Whale launched the Shower Drain Pump Kit. This kit is designed to be used in domestic bathrooms to solve the problem of removing dirty water from level access showers. Previous pump solutions rely on the user cleaning a filter regularly or having to perform periodic maintenance. The Whale kit does not require any regular cleaning or maintenance.   

At the heart of the kit, the patented pump design is able to transfer dirty water without the need for a filter. The pump head contains three non- return valves. These use technology developed in the Whale marine division and each valve passes debris without becoming clogged.   

Since the introduction Whale have continued to invest in the kit to improve the value to the customer and cater for the different types of shower solution, from shower cubicles to wet floors.

Recognition of the pumps success is that local authorities throughout the UK specify Whale when adaptations are made to change a bathroom into a level access shower area.
